Case Studies on Male Circumcision for HIV Prevention
Kenya case study
This case study (2009, PDF, 156 KB) describes a pilot project of a new outreach model that provided male circumcision services to more than 5,300 men and adolescents in Nyanza Province in western Kenya from June 2007 to December 2008. It includes recommendations for other programmes seeking to expand access to male circumcision.
South Africa case study
This case study (2008, PDF, 494 KB) gives background on the history and practice of traditional male circumcision among the Xhosa in the Eastern Cape Province of South Africa. It describes current practices and outlines the social and cultural issues.

Swaziland case study
Swaziland has conducted several "Circumcision Saturdays" when circumcision services are offered on a convenient day and many men are circumcised. This case study (2008, PDF, 747 KB) gives an account of one Circumcision Saturday, detailing the entire effort — from advertising the event through follow-up care. The costs of the Circumcision Saturday are included.
